The school year is off to an amazing start! We love seeing all the smiling faces coming into the cafeteria for breakfast each morning. If your child is not taking advantage of the free breakfast and lunch at school, please encourage them to do so. Much pride is taken in providing nutritious meals that are also super yummy!

Here's to week 3!!

Good morning!! We had a great first day of ACES, but I know a few parents had an issue with pick up and drop off times due to them being wrong on the post from last week. Mrs. Angie tried to get it corrected. Here are the correct times for each stop for the Monday ACES program. Thank you all for your patience while we work out the kinks. See you next Monday, ACES kids!

BUS SCHEDULE
With the 100 degree temperatures, outside recess just is not our cup of tea, so the ACES students got to take their favorite games to the hallway for their activity time this week. Giant checkers and Connect 4, cornhole, and four square are always a big hit. We also took to the PE facility for a little basketball and hoola hoop action. Watching the imagination of the students unfold while playing freely is always a sight to see.

K-2 students learned how to build catapults with Mrs. Baker on their first day of ACES. Working on fine motor skills and learning the way things work are just a small part of what this program will bring to our students.

25-26 WEEK 2

Next Monday will be our first day of ACES for this school year! We are so excited to have your kiddos join us for all the fun we are about to have. Mrs. Angie is working to contact all the parents of the registered students to verify information and answer any questions you may have.

The bus schedule will be similar to the one we used during the summer. Please note which stop is closest to you and the times you will need to be there for pick up and drop off. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Thank you

Well, here we go again!! We are getting all the things ready for another great year of yummy goodness here at the Blue Devil Cafe! As always remember that every student has an account they can put money on for extras. Just send it to the cafeteria or your child's teacher and it will be added to their account.

The salad bar will be available for grades 3-12 so long as it is not abused. We are trying to cut down on wastefulness, so please talk to your child about getting what they want but also wanting what they get. The Shirley Cafeteria serves meals on an offer vs serve basis. This means that students have the opportunity to turn down foods as long as they are taking the required components for a reimbursable meal. Mrs. Angie will go over these guidelines with them as well as post them on this page.

Let's have a great year!

Mrs. Baker has a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Arkansas Tech University. She is certified in preschool through 4th grade. This is her 18th year teaching, and her 7th year teaching kindergarten. Mrs. Baker says, "It is my absolute favorite grade! I eat, sleep, and breathe teaching. Literacy is my specialty, and I love teaching kids how to read and write." Her career in education actually started teaching kindergarten right here in Shirley in 2007, and she couldn’t be more excited to be back! I live in Drasco. Mrs. Baker is married, and they have a 13-year-old daughter, Brooklyn, who will be attending 8th grade at Shirley High School this year. They have a toy Aussiedoodle puppy named Theo.
