Good Morning Shirley!! It is a beautiful day. Yesterday was our first day of the book blast and I wanted to share pictures of the students who qualified for the prizes the first day.

Mrs. McDaniel brought history to life today for her 6th grade students! Agent 355: She was the first female American spy. She was part of George Washington's Culper Spy Ring and the only spy in that ring whose identity we still do not know.

Last week, our 10th graders attended the ASU-Heber Springs Bridge to College Visit. The students enjoyed lunch in the College Cafe; afterward, they received program information from Upward Bound and Trio. They learned about financial aid and the college admissions process. The tour ended with students learning how they could receive college credit in the health professions, marine technology, welding, or construction industries. Thank you to Ms. Tonya Clark for introducing our students to a variety of post-high school opportunities.

I wanted to send out a big thank you to the Mt. Ranch Golf Course and their staff. Mr. Jenkins and Mr. Knoppe were very helpful in setting up, running, and scoring the conference tournament. Also, the staff and maintenance crew did an outstanding job, the course is beautiful and in great shape!

During the 24-25 school year, the Child Nutrition Team at Shirley worked hard to present as many opportunities for nutrition education as we could to the students, staff, and community. Through talks at school, social media posts, and new menu items, our staff was able to achieve the Innovation in Nutrition Education Recognition Award through Healthy Meals Incentives, USDA, and Action for Healthy Kids.

Due to their hard work, our team has been invited to attend the Healthy Meals Incentives Virtual Summit in November. This invitation-only event, hosted by Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK), in partnership with RMC Health and the Chef Ann Foundation and in collaboration with U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), will bring together school nutrition leaders, partners, and awardees to celebrate achievements and explore new strategies to improve school meals and whole child health.

I am extremely proud of our team here at The Blue Devil Cafe and can't wait to see what this year has in store for us. On behalf of my entire team, I would like to say thank you to everyone who supports us in any way possible. From menu ideas to volunteers to a simple pat on the back, because of you, we know that we are appreciated. We are blessed to be a part of such an amazing campus and an even more amazing community.

I also want to congratulate Kennedy Jones for placing as the medalist runner up and qualifying for the boy's State Tournament. The boys team competed really hard and was only 3 shots out of 2nd place and qualifying as a team.

I wanted to congratulate the Shirley Lady Blue Devils for placing 2nd at the 1A conference 5 golf tournament today. The girls will compete at the State Tournament next Monday at Mt. Ranch. I will post pictures tomorrow. Way to go ladies!!!!

We have some new yummy goodness coming up in Week 7!

A group of juniors and seniors went to visit Clinton Schools College and Career fair. On their way home, they stopped at Clinton Airport to learn more about the aviation programs offered there.

These students from Shirley Elementary enjoyed a testing reward trip to Action Jack's in Conway today. Students who scored proficient on the ATLAS test or who showed growth of 10 points or more from last year, got to spend a few hours playing laser tag and arcade games. We are so proud of you! Hope to have even more on the next trip!
